Ginder, for Wellington Nelhon, &C, to sail Apiil 30 ; the "Joseph Fletcher," J, Foster, for Auckland aud New Plymouth, May 10 ; the" Sir Edward Paget," J. Baiclay, for Wellington, Nelson &c, in June ; and the " Simlah," C. Robertson, for Auckl.md and New Plymouth in July. These are to be sent out by Mes&rs. Willis. The " Jo&eph Fletcher," our first expected English visitor here, is described in the advertisement as '' A 1 for 13 years, a new clipper vessel, built expressly for the 'New Zealand trade by the Messrs. Fletcher, of Liraehouse.' '

Steam to Sydney, (via India).— -The Australian mail stivice from Singapoie to Sydney, included m the Peninsula and Oriental contract, is to be performed each way once eveiy two months. The object of the Admu<tlty in pioinoting tins extension of the chain of post.il communication Horn India to Austiaha is, in a gieat mcasme, to accommodate the Indian Piesidenciet, between which and the Anstialian poits a great and valuable trade is spiinging up. To the mothei country the Singapore route to Austi.ilu, can nevei offer any advantages but those of a meie postal and veiy expensive passenger communication, with facilities foi the conveyauce of imall quantities of light and vciy valuable merchandise and possibly of bullion. There is no doubt the service will be conducted with the utmost regularity but Die most important benelits will be derived by India and Austialid, which will hereby possess to then imilii.il advantage the desideratum of an efficient but rather infrequent packet seivlce. In conjunction with the establishment of the Auitialijn Royal Steam Packet Company who have obtained the contiact for i mining a twomonthly mail to and fiom Australia by way ol the Cape, the mails will be despatched from England evmy month alternately via Singapoie and the Cape of Good Hope. Theie is a piospect also of additional steam communication to oui colonies in the South Seas, by way of Panama, as it is understood a company is being formed composed of gentlemen connected with the Royal West India Mail Steam Company, and the Pacific Steam Navigation Company, who propose to establish aline of icrew steamers between Panama and Sydney, touching at New Zealiiul, to nin monthly in conjunction with the mam line of West [ndia mail packets fiom Southampton to the Istlnmii of Panama. New Zealand is not provided with steam coinmuni■atton by cither ot the mail packet companies subsidized by the Admnalty, but pci haps kome ariaugement will be come to foi this object with the Panama Imp. * ♦ • The contiact thu« concluded stipulates that the mails are to bo conveyed at the rate of not less thau t«'n knots an horn on the avt'iage of each voyage, excepting on the Singapoie and Sydney line, on which the avciage is (o be not less than eight and a-lialf knots. The vessels aie to be of not less than IldO tons bin then foi the main lines, and of not less than 000 tons for the branches fiom Smg.ipoie to Sydney, and from Malta to Maiscilles. To guaid in some incasuie against disappointments as of speed, the Admiralty further stipulated that the vessels intended to perfoim the tinnk lines should be capable of attaining a speed under the most favoiuablp cnciimstanccs (i.e. in smooth water), with coali on board, and loaded so as to float down to the load line of the hull, of 12 knots an houi, and of loj knots an hour for the blanches.
