The barque signalled on Monday evening was deemed to be the Daniel Webster, now due from Sydney j but yesterday, to tbe surprise of all, the Cresswell's number was run up at the Signal Station, and that fine vessel, after a brief absence of thirteen days, arrived yesterday evening from New Plymouth. The Cresswoll sailed from this port on the 22nd ultimo, arrived at New Plymouth on the 25th, and after discharging nearly two hundred tons of freight there within four days, sailed thence for Auckland on Friday last, the 29th. She rounded the North Cape at 8, p.m., on Sunday; was off Tutukaka harbour, at 8, a.m., on Monday; at 10b. 15m., a.m., passed the Hen and Chickens ; at lb. 15m., r.M , passed tbe Itodney Point ; at 2 p.m., pasbed the flat rock, and at 3h. 20m., p.m., sighted tne North Head and Signnl Station — the island of Tirithimaianga bearing west about two miles. It blew very hard during tbe clay, in fierce sudden gales, which abated in the evening, and Captain Williams stood in and anchored off Wanga Pomt for the night. lie weighed yesterday morning at sunrise, but, a southerly wind blowing all day, did not reach his anchorage till sunset. Captain Williams saw the Raven, at eight o'clock on Monday morning, off the Poor Knights. The Lucy James, schooner, ai rived at New Plymoyth from Wellington the day before the Cresswell left; but, by some mismanagement, her in.nl had not been brought on shore when the barque sailed.
