Eastern Steam Navigation Company. — The first annual meeting of this company was held on Wednesday, at the London Tavern, bi*hopsgate-street. The chair was taken by R. W. Crawford, E^q. who, in moving the adoption of the repoit previously read by the secretary, said that the Peninsular Company was entitled to great credit as the pioneers in this eastern communication. The Kastern Nngivntiun Company had sufficient funds at present ; and it was, not the in tention of tbe Directors to call for more money until the contract with the Government should be obtained. Even thi;n the call would not be more than £2 10s per share every three months for the building of tbe ships that would be in such case neccessary. The report was adopted, and the Boaid of Directors was elected uuinamously. — lllustiated London News. The Athol, barque, 337 tone, Captnin Black, arrived at Woosung on Satuiday last from the Sandwich Islands, having a Malay crew on board. During the voyage a slight bpint of insubordination had manifested itself among them, and when approaching Barren Island, the weather bping tempestuous, the captain ordeunl all hands to exert themselves to ensure the safety of the vessel. The Seiung, instead of obeying orders, tlpsired the crew to go to dinner. He was remonstrated with, but to no purpose — on which Captain Black ordered him to be placed in irons, when the whole of the crew surrounded ihe captain, and oik j of them succeeded in securing ci rope round his legs and forcing him on the deck. The male immediately came to the assistance of Captain Black, who was struggling with tiie Serai);,', and in a I tempting to cut down the latter and iclease the captain, unfortunately the blow took effect on the captain, severely lnceniting his right hund. The mate, after slightly wounding two of the crew, was dii-armed anil pinioned, and lmnsolf received a wound lioni a cutlass below the knee, and was then placed below in ihe hold of the vessel. Captain MUick succeeded, however, in restoring quietude, and brought the vessel safely into poit.— lndian Chariot, Feb- 21. WuFCREnb on mi; Coast. — It is too much to be feared that certain individuals residing on, the coast havo entitled themselves to the opprobrious epithet of .meckers. The cargo washed ashoie from the Rose of
Ed n has bppn denied to the legitimate owners, aad the Venus completely -tripped of everything, even to the spars at.d rigging— not a piece of spun»yun> Je.'i. The police hate i<ii'orma ion of the p.ut)es>, and it would be truly gratifuiu to all connected vriih the coa^tin^ trade if tin au nmaud'rt. c.vi be brought to their beaungs. — E infiii c, Ju le oQ.
