ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the Nuw Ziulaxder. Hcmucra, 12th June, I JS-52, Sir, — I beg to call youi attention to an error into wliich you have fallen. An article howled " Sale of Crown Lands" appeared in your number of the 29th ult., in which you state that 7 or X'Boo would fall to the Corporation, as the result of the last sale. A very cursory glance at the Government Gazette, or even your own paper, would have impressed the fact upon your memory that the Mangarei District is beyond the boundary of the Borough. The amount realized elsewhere by the Government did not exceed £GOO, consequently £200 would be the entire sum at the disposal of the Council. The next sale is ad\eit'sed for Wednesday the 16th inst., for the information of your readers, will you have the kindness to continue your report. I beg to remain yours respectfully, J. Ndwjus. P.S. By inserting my note in your next number you will oblige, yours truly, J. jSTewman. [We had written a paragraph on this subject before Mr. Newman's communication reached us — his letter having by homo instinctive tendency found its way into the Southern Cross 1};1 }; box instead of ours. That paragraph appears in a preceding column, and obviates the necessity of our making further comment on the matter here. Nevertheless we readily insert Mr. Newman's note, as he desires it. It is quite natural that he should be anxious to extenuate as much as possible the injurious character of proceedings in which he tonic so prominent a part. — En. N.Z.~]
