Commissariat Office, Auckland, 20th January, 1852. npENDEUS will be received at this Office, JL until noon of Friday, the 20th Februarynext, from persons willing to contract for furnishing the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and at such places, within the limits of the Town of Auckland, as may be directed by the undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the twelve calendar months commencing the Ist April next, under the conditions hereafter specified, viz. : — Fresh Meat "J Bread f - lb Mould Candles f at per lb * Dip Caudles } Firewood, at per lOOlbs. J" Peas—at per bushel of 64 (free o f extra pints, each. , charge) ia such Rum, West Inuia, -5 per cent, packages as are under proof, and Vinegar usually proyidod r i & for the Naval Ser- — at -gallon each, j vice< GENERAL CONDITIONS. 1. — All the Articles to be of the best marketable quality of their several kinds. 2. — The Flour to be the produce of clean sound Wheat, from which 20percerit. in Bran has been extracted. 3. — The Bread shall also be the produce of clean sound Wheat, and shall be baked 24 hours before being issued in loaves of 21b. each. A strict observance of this condition will invariably be enforced. 4. — The Fresh Meat, to consist of Beef and, Mutton, to be delivered — if so required— in the proportion of 5 lbs. of Beet, and 2 lbs. of Mutton weekly. Fore and hind quarters to be delivered alternately when the quantity permits. When Beef is issued 6 inches are to be cut off the hough and neck bones. 5. — The Firewood to be Tea Tree or other hard wood, split and cut into lengths of four feet. The contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, at Auckland, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, a stock sufficient for fourteen days consumption, from which stock alone the issues are to be made. "The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected ; to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must v be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the contractor on delivery ; 7 i cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. 6. — The Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the contractor after manufacture, for a suitable period, and in the Tenders for this portion of the supplies it must be stated in what proportions Sperm Candles will be supplied in lieu of Mould Candles, in case the same should be demanded for officers. 7. — The Mixed Vegetables are to be supplied in reasonable proportions of Greens, Onions, &c.,&c. 8. — The Articles required for Hospitals must be comprised in one Tender, and the same rule applies to those required for ships of war. The other articles may be tendered together or separately, but when more than one article is included in a Tender it should be stated whether it will be optional with the undersigned, to make such selections as may be thought desirable, or whether it is imperative that the whole should either be accepted or rejected. 9. — Each Tender must be accompanied by a statement, signed by two competent persons, and expressing their readiness, in the event of the Tender being accepted, to become sureties for its due performance by entering into a Bond, the penalty of which will be equal to the:estimated amount of three months supplies. 10. — It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving in writing a notice of three calendar months to the opposite party, and to end the contract at the expuation of that period. Such notice to be given only from the first day of a month, and within the period for which the contract is made or agreed to be made. 1 1 . — No Transfer of a Contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the undersigned, or his successor in office. 12. — When supplies are objected to by the person to whom they are tendered, they are to be submitted to a Board of Survey, according to the custom of the service, (Naval or Military, as the case may be), and if rejected by the Board, other supplies of a more satisfactory nature are to be immediately substituted, or else the Commissariat Department will cause purchases to be made, and charge the expense against the Contractor.
