/f he Election for a representative for the East Suburban Ward in the the Auckland Common Council, in the room of Mr. P. W. Merriman, resigned, took place yesterday at the Rpsidentjiljgistrate's Court. The candidates were' Major^oHrrGfßAY7"an3"MrT Wm. Hay. At the close of the poll, at 4 o'ciock, Mr. Hay was declared elected. The following is the official return of the numbers : William Hay, Parnell, Carpenter. . . .25 John Gray, Parnell, Major 22
We are requested to state that tomorrow, Thursday, the Ist of January, is the last day on which Depasturing Licenses, within Proclaimed Hundreds, can be obtained, for 1852, from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, whose office will be kept open on that day for that purpose.
