AT the request of the Wardens of the Hundred of Auckland, I hereby give Notice that*? Special Meeting of the Justices of the Peace for the Borough and District of Auckland, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Auckland, on Tuesday, the sixth day of January, 1852, at twelve o'clock, noon, for the purpose of estimating and assessing reasonable rates for the general or ordinary damages, which shall and may be demanded in a summary way, by the owner of any Lands, without proof of special damage for the trespass of any Cattle thereon, and to frame a table of such rates, in accordance with the Provisions of the Impounding Ordinance, Sess. 8, No. 6. Thos. Beckham, Resident Magistrate. Resident Magistrate's Court, Auckland, December 16th, 1851.

HIS Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor has been pleased to direct the publication of the following By Laws, which have received His Excellency's assent, and which will come into operation on the 20th of January, 1852, according to the provisions of the Ordinance. BY LAWS FOR THE HUNDRED OF PUPUKE. IN pursuance of the powers conferred by an Act of the Legislative Council of New Zealand, 13 Victoria, Session 10, No. 1, entitled "An Act to regulate the occupation of Waste Lands of the Crown in the Province of New Ulster," We, the undersigned Wardens for the time being of the Hundred of tupuke, do make the following By Laws : — Ist. That all cattle depastured on the aforesaid waste lands of the Crown, shall be branded ■with the initials of the owner, under a penalty of 7s. per head for each and every omission. 2nd. That all persons depasturing cattle as aforesaid, shall, when called on by the Wardens or any one of them for the time being of the said Hundred, give an account in writing, duly signed by him or her, of the number of cattle then running and bearing his or her brand, and being bona fide his or her property, as also of the number of cattle (if any) hired of or from any other person, and of whom, and particulars of brands any such cattle hired may have, under a penalty of £1 for the first omission, £2 for the second, and £5 for the third and every future omission. 3rd. That no person shall run any cattle upon the said waste lands but such as shall be his or her property, or bona fide hired by him or her. 4th. That any person worrying cattle with dogs on the said waste lands, or other unenclosed lands not in the lawful occupation of the person so driving of such cattle, shall forfeit and pay for the first offence the sum of £ If; for the second £2 ; and for the third offence the sum of £5. sth. That any person allowing cattle not bona fide his or her property, or bona fide hired as aforesaid to run in his or her name, or making any collusive agreement of any kind with a view to impose upon the Wardens, or the Ranger (if any), or to defeat the fair and just provisions of the Ordinance above referred to, shall for the first and every future offence forfeit and pay the sum of £5. 6th. That any person or persons having any cattle running on the waste lands as aforesaid, and desire to slaughter the same for Auckland market, or for shipping, or for any other purpose, shall first give due notice in writing to the Wardens, or any one of them, or the person whom the Wardens may hereafter appoint for the purpose of inspecting the brands of the said cattle ; and if the person or owner of the cattle neglect to do so, he shall for the first and every offence forfeit and pay the sum of £5. 7th. That as there is a number of bad bred bulls running on the aforesaid waste lands to the injury of stock, therefore it shall not be lawful after the publication of these By Laws for any person to have a bull running on the said waste lands, unless licensed to do so. Bth. That any person or persons running any bull or bulls on the waste lands aforesaid, without being licensed by the Wardens so to do, shall forfeit and pay the sum of £2 for the first offence, £3 for the second offence, and the sum of £5 for the third and every future offence. 9th. Provided that no male horned cattle •will or shall be held accountable or as coming within or liable to the aforesaid penalty, unless the said cattle be from twelve to fourteen months old. 10th. That any peison setting fire to or causing any part of the said waste lands to be set on fire, without the consent in writing of Wardens, shall forfeit and pay the sum of 10s. for the first offence, 20s. for the second offence, and 40s. for the third and every future offence. 11th. That any person destroying or impairing in any way any wall, embankment, fence, or bridge, on the said waste lands within
