It is now seventeen days since the Moa left Sydney, nnd as H.ftl.B. Fantome was to sail seven days after, we may expect her hourly. The Moa since her ai rival has discharged her inward cargo (upwaids of 200 tons), taken in her ballast and outwaid cargo, and is again leady for sea. Upon enquiry we find that slip will sail at high water to-day, should the weathei permit. The Helen S. Page at rived at San Francisco on the 20th May, and sailed fiom that port on the '2nd July, and Ims not touched at any of the islands on hpr passage up. She had an extraordinary quick run to the Navigators' Islands, which she made in 25 days, but after passing through that group slih encountered a Rpripa of lipavy S.W. and S.E. gales. She made Cape Bietton Fnday week, the 15th., where she encountered strong head winds, and was blown off again under close rppfpd topsails for six d.ays. The change of wind to the N.E. on Thursday enabled her to bear up for the Gulf, and slip had a steady run in to hpr anchorage yesterday. The following are the .arrivals and clearances at San Francisco, of vessels connected with our colonies during the month of June : — Arrivals. — June 1. Fearful Catastrophe: Loss of a Steamfr and 120 Livts.— Our columns have already reported the loss of a steamer in the Mississippi under circumstances, and with a fatality, recalling the memorable disaster to the Orion. We extract the following thrilling description of the event from the dncinnntti Commeicial, of the 4th February : — " The circumstances as we obtained them from Mr. Leonard, the pilot, who was on watch at the time, are, in brief, as follows : During the evening and up to ten o'clock the weather was nnstj r , with indication of a fog ; but it cleared up, and everything was fine and fair for a run, so much so, that the captain, Henry A. Jones, left the deck with the certainty that all was safe, and that there was nothing to indicate even a possibility of danger. But about thiee o'clock in the morning, at a distance of about 150 miles above Viclceburg, she struck a ''sawyer" or 6n»g, and immediately commenced filling. The boat was heavly loaded, and was drawing nbout ten feet of water at the time. She became unmanageable, and notwithstanding tbe efforts of the pilot to run her on a bar, under a full head of steam, she sunk in less than ten seconds, in over sixty feet of water ! She went down with a plunge, bow foremost, and at such an angle that when the pilot ran from his place he took a position upon the curve of the wheel-house next to the deck, which was almost a horizontal line ! After the bow struck the bottom, the upper works of tbe boat wen* detached, the cabin broke in two, the chimneys pissed through the casingand disappeared. The two sections of the cabin floated round and formed a V, and those who were on them, and those only, were saved. The cabin drifted some eight miles before it was landed. When the boat struck, the alarm was immediately given, men women and children made their way on deck and thus were saved; but as the warning was short numbers doubtless peiisbed in their beds or struggled for life to meet death at last between decks. The engine was heard to work and the paddles to beat after the boat had gone doion, and continued until the water, by passing through the scape-pipes stopped them. The number lost is estimated at one bundled and twenty. Of the cabin passengers over twenty are known to have perished, and of deck passengers, eighty, but two are known to have bf>en caved. Twenty-one of the crew, deck hands and firemen, were drowned." — Liverpool Albion.
