Extract from copy Despatch No. 54, from Right Hon. Earl Grey to Licut.-Govcrnor Sir AY. Dcnison, Downing-stiect, February, 5, 1847 — "I have the honour to inform you that it is not the intention that transportation to Van Diemen's Land should be resumed at the expiration of the two years for which it has been already decided that it should be discontinued."
