L'Alcmenb's Crew —A lar^e numher of the seamen of the wrecked vessel arrived in town from Kaiparaon Saturday morning and M.Compie d'Harcourt, with several of his officers and the remainder of the crew, on Sunday evening. The Commander is stayins a* Lieuten ant G. Wynyard's rtsidence in Princes Street. Tenders are called lor by the Commissariat, for the conveyance of tbe officers and crew to Tahiti, or for a vessel to be sold to the French Government for that immediate purpose. The tenders to be delivered by noon on Friday. The cutter Iris, Captain Peacock, hence the 12th Febmary, arrived at Honolulu on the 20th April and sailed from that port for Pott Cooper on the 10th May, but having met with heavy weather off the coast, she bore up for this port. The srhocner Lightning, hence the 23rd Feb., for San Francisco, arrived at Honolulu on the 2lst April, with her cargo of potatoes all damaged liy the worm. The schooner Ilio-mama, hence the 271h February, for San Francisco, arrived at Honolulu the day after the Lightning with hor cargo nil destroyed also.* Ihe onions by ihe-e vessels kept well. The Ilio-mnma was to return to this port •hortly after the Iris sailed. The John Cnlvin, barque, 56 days from Sydney, arrived at Honolulu on the 20th April; the Artemesia, 50 ray» from Sydney, the Deborah, schooner, 25 days from Tahiti, and the Timbo, schooner, from HobartTown via Tahiti, arrived on Ist May. The Timbo's cargo consisted of potatoes and onions, which arrived iv excellent condition, and realised good prices — the potatoes sold for 4 dollars a box of 80 lbs. ; the onions at 15 cents per Ib. The barque Novelty. Captain Harrison, hence Ist Feb., was reported. The Ca ptainof the Widgeon, which had arrived ot Honolulu from San Fianci-co, reported that a portion, if not all the Novelty ' 6 cargo had turned out badly, and that the vessel had received considerable injury in hei hull from striking on a reef on e»teiing San Franritco harbour. The Moa sailed from Sydney on the Bth instant, and on the 11th encountered an easterly g<tle that lasted for four days ; during a sudden shilt of wind to N.W. in wearing the ship, her lore-iop mast, jib. boom and main top-gallant mast were carried away. Repairs were soon effected, and a steady north west wind continued until she reached the North Cape on Saturday last. Capt. Norris bpoke the Emma on Sunday at noon, off Cape Hrett. H.M.S. Havannah wai at anchor between Sydney Ilends, and a barque, supposed to be the Daniel Webster, was steering from the eastwaids towards the port, as the Moa was leaving.

The Bondicar sailed from Deal Hie 13th, and the, Gambia from Deal the 14th, foi Sydney ; the Envelope for Sydney, stied from Liverpool the 13th February, the Golden Spring, foi Port Phillip, sailed fiom Gravesend tbe 12th February; the Cornwall, for Hobart Town, sailed from Deal the 10th February; the Hero, for Launceston, sailed from Deal on the Bth Fcbruaiy; the Garland Grove sailed from Deal the 12th, the Montgomery from Greenock, and the We - Hngton from Portsmouvb, on the 13th February, for Adelaide. The fo'lowing bhips were advertised for the colonies. July; Viraeria, 1100, Neatby, 2Oih August. The barques Jane and Eugenia were loading at the London frocks for Sydney, to sail in Februaiy. For the Canterbury Settlement : Steadfast, 534. Spencer, 25th Februaiy; Clara, 368, Potter, lOfch Morch; Labuan, 547, Bth April ; Dominion, 584, Bth May. H M.S. Calliope was inspected by Admiral Gage on the 14th February, und was to sail in a few days. A serious accident occurred in this vessel, hy the capstanpall giving w.iy ; SirEveraid Home, Suijieon Ne'tleton, and several seamen were knocked down and much injured by the capstan bars, and a quarter- matter was killed. The Fatal Accident on board H.M. Ship Calliope — An inquest wa^ held at the R y<»l Navnl Ho«pitnl Inn, Stonehonse, on (he body of John Nolan, quarter-master of H.M.S. Calliope, who died from injuries received on board that ship on Monday the 3rd Feb. It appeared fiom (he evidence that the ship was being towed in the Sound flora her moorings off the dockyard by Her Majesty's steamer Avon, and the towing rope was fixed round the capstan. The men were ordered to walk round the capstan, but before they could get to bear againtt ii, it flew round with great rapidity, in consequence of the steamer just then getting her full powpr on, and there being "0 " paull" duwn, the capstan bars flew about in all directions knocking down several of the men, and mortally wounding the deceased on the head. A verdict of " accidental death" was returned. The Pandora, schooner, 6 guns, has been commissioned by Commander B. Drury for surveying on the coast of New Zeal tnd. She is to have b compliment of sixty men. She is reported in the Sydney Herald of the 7th inst , to have sailed from Plymouth for the Cape of Good Hope and Sydney on the 28th February. The barque Norfolk. Captain Charles Ferdinand Kifef, (and not the " Kraeft," as reported in ye«terday'i S. Cross), was to sail from London for Auckland diiect, on the sth March, md may now be shortly looked for.
Sydney Markets — Friday, Junk 6. The Mills Reports —Messrs. Barker and Co.'s mills — There has been a tolerable supply of colonial wheat, for vrlv.ch the highest price !?iven was 11s. Flour remains at last quotatio s ; ,£3O for fine, and £2B for seconds, per ton of 2000 lbs. Bran Is. to Is 2c3 per bushel. Mr. Smart's— Only a few small parcels of wheat have arrived this week, none of which were purchased at this mil!. The demand for flour has not been large, owing to the reduce pices at which some of the holders of imported are anxious to sell ; there is, however, no alteration in price at the mills. Mr. Briellafs mill — The country supply of wheat appears now to be nearly exhausted, none whatever having been received at this mill throughout the week. The few parcels what have come in were readily purchased at other mill*, at from 9s. to 11s. per bushel, according to quality. The demand for fburhas not been quite so active this week, there being several importers and small speculators who appear anxious to realise at somewhat under the mil price, which is firm at j£ J 3O per ton for fine, and i?2B for gecond quality. Bran, £G tier ton of 2000lbg, Maize is scarce, and the price very uncertain. Some small parcels rcaliied 4s 9d to 5s yesterday. Oats fetch 3s. 9d. wholesale, to 4s. 3d. retail, per bushel Barlby. — English is demanded at 4«, 3d; samples for malting purposes will command 4s 6d; Cbpebaney, 3s 9d to 4s per bushel. Potatoes. — Hobart Town imported command £5 per'ton; colonial, £3 10. Sales ilull. Bread.— The bakers arc selling geneially at 7d the 2 Ib. loaf.
Our Markets have been quiet for the past week 5 several arrivals from Britain have supplied our immediate wants. Few salei are reported when the previous scarcity of goods is considered. Importers, gene* rally are firm, looking for increased demand ere further parcels can arrive. Some few having speculated outofttieirimmediatelineof business ar? nervous and try to puih sales, which has a depiessing effect on (he market. A little pa'ience would carry them safely through. — Teas and Sugars have maintained hie;h ratei throughout.— Cis>ars range hitjb. — Stirch is reported sold a 7£d. — Tin Plates and Boiled Oil have come in in quantity, but prices are maintained. — Fruits have been taken freely by the trade.— With thc-e and a few exceptions, prices have declined, or salts are being effected with difficulty.— ln Flour, Brandy and other spirits, Ale and Porter, Candies, Iron, Lead, Paints, Paper, Rice, Metal and Copper Sheathing, Slates, Soda Ash, &c.| there is little doing, though we can have no doubt, in course of a few weekß, each article will be successively in request, if sales be not again checked by holders looking for exorbitant rates. — Sydney Herald, June 1.
