MR, WHYTLAW'S FLAX DRESSING MACHINE.
'T^ HESE simple and efficient Machines, constructed upon an entirely new principle, for separating the fibre from the leaf of the plant, possess the following advantages :—: — They are exceedingly portable and easily kept in repair. One Machine, worked with moderate speed, with the attendance of three children, will produce lOOlbs. of fibre per day. The whole fibres of the leaf are obtained, and are thoroughly separated from the useless vegetable matter. The fibres of the leaf are preserved in their original parallelism, so that very little loss is sustained in the subsequent process of Hackling. They may be at once connected by a belt with any revolving drum having the requisite power and speed. For the information of parties intending to use them, it may be said, that each horse power will work four of these machines. Purchasers of these machines will be furnished with printed instructions relative to the proper management of the Flax, previous and subsequent to its being dressed. W. S. Grahame, Esq., Fort-street, Auckland, and Messrs. Bethune & Hunter, Wellington, are the sole Agents for the sale of these Machines, constructed under the directions of the Inventor. Auckland, 9th June, 1851.
