Original Correspondence.
To the Editor of the New Zcalandcr. Sin,— Allow me to express to you, my thanks for the very interesting information you have given us as to the ecclesiastical movement! in Adelaide. The judgement and good temper evinced by the Clergy and laity there, seemed to be as gratifying as the zeal and courage with which they acted. I trust you will continue to gather for us intelligence as to any similar movements that may take place elsewhere in reference to these question^. The more I examine the more I dislike those Minutes of Proceedings of --the Bishops in Sydney. One is pleased to witness the humiLfy avith which they disclaim all wish to exercise arbitary power, or assume prerogatives. But we cannot help asking, how was it that, with such feehngi, they showed such disregard for the opinions of the clergy and laity fay declining to consult them before they met, and by sending their Minutes direct home, without any reference whatever to our viewi upon them. The Bishops of this province may indeed have very enlarged views as to the position in which they would place the ciergy and laity, but I think that they must admit that they have adopted a rather strange way for shewing them.— l remain, yours, &c, A Clergyman.
