CHAPEL OPENING.

THE PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHAPEL will be opened for Divine Worship, D.V., on Sunday, March 16, 1851, and on the following Tuesday, when four Sermons will be preached as follows :— -On Sunday, March 16,by the Rev. T. Buddle, at 11 o'clock, a.m.; by the Rev. A. McDonald, at 2£, p.m.; by the Rev. R. Ward, at 6£. p.m.; and on Tuesday, March 18, by the Rev. J. Inglis, at 7 o'clock, p.m. A collection will be made at the close of each Sermon to assist the Chapel fund. The friends of religion, both in the town and in the country are respectfully invited to attend, with thanks for their past assistance. R. Waiid. Auckland, March 4, 1851.

MESSRS. MACLEAN of the Tamaki have ready for immediate Sale— about 600 Bushels PRIME OATS 30 tons Potatoes | ton Preserved Butter, a very superior article. Four payments, at intervals of three months would be taken. March 4th, 1851.

A PUBLIC MEETING convened by Placard of the various trades in the Building department, was held in the large room of the White Hart Hotel, on Monday evening, 4th March. Mr George Ansell was called to the Chair, and the following Resolutions were carried unanimously :—: — Ist Resolution, — moved by William Grifpin, seconded by Joseph Medhurst. " That in the opinion of this Meeting it is now expedient for all men in every branch of the building department to give notice to their employers, on the Bth of March, 1851 — that they intend to commence a custom (to be afterwards observed in Auckland), of leaving work on the following Saturday afternoon at four o'clock, March 15th, and commence again on the following Monday Morning, March 17th, at seven o'clock." 2nd Resolution, — moved by James Bradley, seconded by John Page " That all who have voted for the former Resolution do come forward to the table before they leave the room this evening, and sign their names, as showing their intention to carry it out, and also to subscribe towards defraying the expenses of printing, &c, &c, incurred by the Committee." 3rd Resolution — " That the thanks of this Meeting are due, and are hereby tendered to Mr. Partington, proprietor of the White Hart Inn, for granting the use of this Room, in which to hold a Public Meeting.
