GENERAL PURPOSES. CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT. 1. — All the Articles to be of the Lest quality of their several kinds. 2.— The 'Flour to be the produce of clean sound Wheat, from which 20 per cent in bran has been extracted. 3. — The Bread to be made from Flour of the same quality and fineness, as described in the preceding paragraph, and to be baked m the best manner, twenty-four hours before being issued, in loaves of 2 ft), each. 4. — The Fresh Meat, to consist of Beef and Mutton, to be delivered— if so required—in the proportion of 5 lbs. of Beef and 2 lbs. of Mutton weekly. Fore and hind quarters to be : delivered alternately when the quantity permits. When Beef is issued 6 inches are to be cut off the hough and neck bones. 5. — The Firewood to be Tea Tree or other hard wood, split and cut into lengths of four feet. The contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, at Auckland, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, a stock sufficient for fourteen days consumption, from which stock alone the issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the contractor on delivery ; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. 6. — The Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the contractor after manufacture, for a suitable peiiod, and in the Tenders for this portion of the supplies it must be stated m what proportions Sperm Candles will be supplied in lieu of Mould Candles, in case the same should be demanded for officers. 7.— The Mixed Vegetables to be supplied in reasonable proportions of Greens, Onions, &c , &c. 8. — The At tides required for Hospitals must be comprised in one Tender, and the same rule applies to those required for ships of war. The other articles may be tendered together or separately, but when more than one article is included in a Tender it should be stated whether it will be optional with the undersigned, to make such selections as may be thought desirable, or whether it is imperative that the whole should either be accepted or rejected. 9, — The Tender for Bread must be accompanied by a sample of not less than 40 lbs. in weight of the description of Flour which it is proposed to employ.
