She has brought a large number of passenges for this place, among whom we recognise Charlei Clifford, Esq., lady and family, and Mr. Geo. Hart, who have now returned to make New Zealand their home.— lndependent, Nov. 16. Steam. — A passenger by the Phabe Dunbar informs us, that two or three days before the New Zealand Company surrendered its Charter into the hand* of the Home Government, an offer wai made to it by a Geßeral Steam Ship Company, to run three steamers, for three years, in New Zealand, viz : — one to run between Wellington, Nelson, and Sydney; another between Manakau and Wellington, calling at Taranaki; and the third from Wellington to Auckland, calling at the intervening ports. The sum required to be guaranteed to them for the performance ol this important service was only £14,000. It was generally supposed, that although the New Zealand Company wai dissolved, the project would be favourably entertained by the Home Government. This important result has been brought about by the eneigetic and able advocacy of Mr. D. Moore.— 76.
