TENDERS FOR SURVEYING BY CONTRACT.
Colonial Secretary's Office, Auckland, October 4th, 1850. HHENDERS will be received at the SurJ. veyor-General's Office, until noon of Monday, the 14th instant, from parties desirous of peiforming two small Surveys for the Government, one near Otahuhu, and the other near Matakana.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until noon on Tuesday, the Bth October, 1 850, from persons desirous of furnishing the following articles required for the erection of a Wharf in Commercial Bay, viz.: — Hardwood Piles Kauri Timber Kauri Planking Iron, Flat and Round 15 tons of Coals. Specifications may be seen and every information on the subject obtained on application to the Clerk of Works, at the office of the Royal Engineer Department, Albert Barracks. NOTICE is hereby given, that a Pound has been erected at the junction of the Epsom and Tamaki Roads, in conformity with the Impounding Ordinance, 1 1 Viet., Sess. 8, No. 6, and His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the same to be the Public Pound for the Hundred of Auckland. NOTICE TO MARINERS.
A DANGEROUS sunken Rock, lying about two miles to the north-eastward of the outermost of the "Mercury" or " Haussez" Islands, should be carefully avoided by vessels passing to and from the southward. This Rock bears from Cape Colville about east by south (magnetic), and from Castle Hill j over Mercury Bay about north-east (magnetic). It is only visible during gales of wind, or at low water spring tides. David Rough, Harbour Master.
