STANISLAUS RIVER.

I At a meeting of the several Mining Companies of the Stanislaus River, held at the store of Mr. Robimon, on the 30th of July, 1850, convened for the purpose of securing concert and mutual protection. Dr. G. G. Morgan was called to the chair, and W. L. Wright chosen secretary; nine separate companies, engaged in digging canals and constructing dams on the river, were found represented. On motion of Captaiu W. W. Stewart it was agreed that a committee of one from each company be chosen to draft resolutions in consonance with the objects of the meeting. The committee having been chosen, after due deliberation, submitted the following preamble and resolutions, which were unanimously adopted : Whereas our legal rights have been threatened by lawless individuals, the undersigned committee propose the following resolutions— Resolved lit. That we claim ai our legal rights the entire length of the bed of the river, from the opening of our races or canals to the outlet of the same, including all parts of the bars that may be drained by them, also the ground between the races and the liver. ReioWed 2nd. That we, the undersigned, companies of Staniilaus River, do solemnly pledge ouridves to aid and assist each and all in maintaining our legal right* *nd claims from the invasion of all those who have not assisted in draining our respective claimi of said river, except such as the companies may vote in.
