A PUBLIC MELTING will be held, D.V., in the Wcsleyan School Room (kindly lent for the puipo.se), on Fnday, August 23rd, 1850, ia older to appoint Trustees for the PRIMITIVE METHODIST CIjAPEL, &c, about to be erected in this Town. Statistical, and other information, ldative to the Primitive Methodist Connexion will be given by the resident Minister, and some resolutions will be proposed and seconded by several gentlemen. The chair will be taken by John Rour, Esq., at 7 o'clock, p. in., when the attendance of the Public is lespectfully solicited. N. B. — There will be no collection.
Tim Primitive Miu'iionisT Connkxion has been in existence foity yeais ; and was propeily enrolled in her Majesty's High Court of Chancery in February, IS3O. It has Circuits in neatly every county of England, and in some counties of Scotland and of Wales; and supports Missions in America ; in Ireland ; in New South Wales, at Sydney and Poit Philip ; in South Australia, at Adelaide and Mount Batker; and in New Zealand, at New Plymouth, Wellington, and Auckland. The Statistics, as reported to the Conference held at Sunderland, m June, 1849, are as follows :—: — Number of Church Membeis 95,557 " Stationed Ministers ...... 513 " Local Pieachcis 8,291 " Class Lcadcis 5,079 " Connexional Chapels .... 1,511 " Rented Chapels 3,345 " Sunday Scholars 94,870 " Sunday School Teachers.. 18,109 The Increase of Church Members this year 6,100 It o Bert Ward, Minister.
