Commissariat Office, Auckland, July 30, 1850. TENDERS for the supply of the undermentioned Articles at Auckland, and the Bay of Islands, from Ist November, 1850, to 31st March, 1851, will be received at this Office, until noon of Monday, the 16th September next, viz. : — At Auckland — Mould and Dip Candles. At Bay of Islands — Bread. The Conditions of Contract, and other necessary information, will be found in the Commissariat Advertisement for Annual Contracts, dated 18th January last, and published in the " New Zealander" newspaper. A LECTURE will be delivered in the Hall of this Institution on the Evening of Tuesday, the 27th instant, By the Rev. A. Reid ; Subject, «A GLANCE AT THE EARLY HISTORY OF PALESTINE." Tickets (for adults Is., children 6d.) may be obtained of Mr. Hansard, Hon. AUCKLAND MECHANICS INSTITUTE.

npHE Committee of Management of this a Institution desire to call the attention of the public to the advantages of Membership thereof, and to express a hope that as the commencement of a new (the 3rd) Quarter affords a good oppoitunity for joining the Institute, many will, on becoming acquainted with those advantages, send in their names for nomination. The Library (which has recently received, by donation and purchase, some very valuable additions) is open on two evenings in the week for the circulation of Books. It is expected that arrangements will be effected for the delivery of the Lectures (a list of which has been already published) at intervals of about a fortnight. Members, on presentation of their card, are admitted free. Non-members pay Is. to each Lecture. The Drawing and Discussion classes (to which Members only are admissible) are now in full operation. The Subscription is 2s. 6d. per quarter. Entrance Fee, 2s. 6d. By order of the Committee, A. W. Hansard, Hon. Sec.
