11l to-cLy's imprpswn we publ'sh a return of exports fiom this poit to Califoinh, by which it apocars that property to the amount of ,£24, G 13 has been sent away. Of this the lug 'fit propoition consisted of colonial product*, which are va'uod at .£18. 275. The e\ports of Brit'sh manufactures only equal £^, r )G'U and foreign £6QO. But these items do not exhibit the actual sum embarked in this trade. Twelve vessels lnve s.iilpd from Launceston, the aggregate register of which was 2,914' tons. The fipijjbr paid rannof 1)3 le*s than £ii per ton register, or £23 312. To ihis, too, must be added insurance on t -t")0,0 f )0, which, at two percent amounts to 1,000. This enumeration shewa that commodities of ths \alue of £48,985 have been expnteJ from LauneeVon alone, e^cUwive of the cai^o of the X'/lon, now in the liver. This amouit is not e\ng'jjer*ted, since the artnU^ ne valued at the lowest current pi ices, to escape the hea\> advaloiew imports exacted at San Francisco. It isscucely nec-f-siiv toadd that it docs not include the cash which piis-en^di have carried away with them. We hope some or ilv> 'oullipin jouinalt will imir»te tlie example now given, nnd favour tlnir renders wi h similai information refueling th» p irt of HobaitT.wi. In the mean time wd m»_v stale tli^st twenty-eijit vessels have left Storai Biy lor Calif >inui— a total pimjge of 5,552. This, at £7 per tun, would give .£38,804 as freight ; the good-, climated at die sunc vilue as those exported from L'Hincestonj amount to £41 ,400, and the iusurance of ca<>:o and freigjlit to £1,6i0. The total exports from llobvt l'oivn to the Lind of G')ld, may therefore be assumed to be about ,£,81,004. It is a lact of some considerable importance t> know that tins i»ln> i ] ■ « s , »ince ilie opening of the trade to California, exported in value not less than one hundnd and thirty thousand eight huud ed and fifty-nine poundi' woilh of commodities.
