Original Correspondence.

To the Editor of the Neto-Zeahnder, Sir,— l beg, through the medium of your columns, to address t few wordi to the Public, corroborative of tbe necessity of your Pilot Station being placed on Tiritirimatangi instead of where it it at present— as, owing to our not having got a pilot on board in time I consider the loss of the Iliomama, the vessel owned by me, to be chiefly attributable ; the thick and squally weather at the time the vessel struck, having rendered our charts of the coast and gulf useless and our instruments of no service. Captain Church has already returned thanks through the columns of your cotemporary, for the assistance rendered by friends here. There are several gentlemen, however, whose names he has omitted, to whom I beg here publicly to express toy grateful thanks, for their attention and kindness— particularly to Captain Daldy, whose efforts to get tbe vessel off the reef were unremitting , and to Mr. Bain, my agent, who has given my interests his closest attention. To Messrs. Macky, and R. Graham and to Captain Salmon, /or their kind assistance and advice, I also feel myself greatly obliged, and beg these gentlemen will kindly accept my best thanks. Several parlies have, I regret to say, not been actuated by the same friendly spirit as these gentlemen —but they have been the exception, not tbe rule. Thanking you, Sir, for your kindness, and other* not here mentioned, I am, sir, your obedient servant, George Rissly, Late owner of the schooner < Iliomams.* Auckland, Feb .26, 1850.
