Cocked hats with big plumes, Country folk hirin' rooms ; High arches, quick marches, and ban' kerchiefs wavin' ; Carriages, marriages, Dhresses, adhresses, And nobody dlireamin' of slcepin' or savin. In yachts there was hauling* ; From brats there was bawlin', When mothers got wedged at the station-house door ; Commandliers, high-landers, Directors, projectors, And trains that were crowded soon made to hold more The night, too, was light too, And made much more bright, too, By gas and by tallow, by wax and shy rocket. There was catches and glees, Boxiu' matches and sprees, And ev'ry one busy, from peer to pickpocket. Och, sure 'twns done heavy All at the grand levee j Not to mention the visit to the Gardens and Bnnk ; Or to Thrinity College, Where they've got the dead knowledge; And the Schools, where the children all sung in a rank.
