January 17.— George, 15 tons, Farrow, master, from Bay of Plenty, with C 6 bags wheat, 81 bushels maize, 1300 lbs. oniom. Jan. 17.— Julia, 36 tons, Robinson, master, from Mahurangi, with 3000 feet sawn timber, 40 tons firewood. — Combes & Daldy, Agents. Jan. 18.— Josephine, barque, 310 tons, Capt, Smith, from Kawam W. S. Grahamc, agent. DEPARTURES. Jan. 17. — Edward, 14 tons, McKinnor, master, for Russell, with sundries. W. S. Grahame, agent. Jan. 18.— H. M. steamer Acheron, for Wellington. CLEARANCES. Jan. 17.— Moa. 236 tons, Norris master, for Kawau, with 30 tons, coals, 10,000 feet sawn timber, 18 Ccsks soda.
The Fanny is quite full, and ready for sea. Captain Tivobey ha» been appointed to the command of her, and the will sail for San Francisco on Monday. The Joiephine bat arrived from Kawau, and will commence to load for San Francisco on Monday 5 her cargo i* nearly all engaged, and she is to sail about the middle of February.
Thb Helen.-— The notice of the piracy of this veisel in our last number contains an erroneous statement which we are requested by the Mate to correct. It was stated that there were two seamen, besides th« Captain Mate and Steward, put on shore at the North Cape, whereas the fact is that when the two seamen were getting ready to go into the boat along with those who were going on shore, they were prevented by the pirates, and peremptorily commanded to remain on board and help to work the vessel. The namei of the men who were thus pressed into the service of the pirates were John Robson, and Andrew Ramsay. One of the most active of the passengers who seized the veisel, was Henry Austen, known, it it said, fora length of time on this coast by the name of •• Atkin," while lailing a small coaster.
