John Woodhouse v. William Clayton Hayes. This was an undetctirieil action on a promissory no>e drawn by defendant in favour of pluintiff for the sum of £47 3s. Gd. The lignature of the defendant was proved nnd the jury gave a verdict for the full amount, with interest and coits. Mr. Merriman for plaintiff.
George Friderick Russell v. Edward Hardy. A ipecial jury was summoned to try this cause, which vtm «n action brought to recover the sum of
tho amount of a sum of money obtained from tlrs plaintiff by ttie defendant, by fraudulent misrepresentations and acts, ai the purchase 1 money of a House and Land in the vicinity of Auckland, called " Fernside." A great deal of evidence was adduced,— leven witnQEies baring been examined on the part of the plaintiff, and two on behalf of the defendant. The trial occupied the greater part of the day— the jury retired at halftpast four o'clock, and aftrr much deliberation, (applying to the Court several times for explanations on the evidence) at hnlf-p'»t nine, gave a renlict for the phinliff— amount cluimed and conti. Mr. Whitaker for plaintiff. The Attorney General dnd Mr. Merriman for defendant.
