TO CORRESPONDENTS.

Our expectation that Correspondents will communicate for our own infoimalion their real nnmes and addresses, is understood to imply an engagement nn our part not to violate t%eir incognito for the mere gratification of curious or captious inquirers. Whether " Criticus" is " a new-comer" or not, ii unimportant ; for the value of any view or opinion depends, not on the length of time a man may have taken in aniving at it, but on its own soundness, and his ability to maintain it by facts and fair arguments. It happens, however, that " Criticus" is not a new-comer, but a gentleman who has much colonial experience, as well as other qualifications for forming just conclusions on the subject of his letter.
