We have just received a letter from Lahote announcing tlin complete i\jut of the Sikhs on lite 2\H, \i itii vi-ry tiifltng loss to our army. " The battle commenced at half past three on llu morning oi the 21st, Our guns were kept playing on the enemy for three hours. The cavalry we)e still in pursuit at 1) p. on. 'Ihe I'ncmy fled towards the Jhclum, and it is supposed will make for A tock. Our loss ha bfen very small, it is Baid no morp than 200 killed and wounded. The loss of the SikhH is not siid to be very great, ah they soon took to their hccß The only officer whose name is mentioned as killed, is Captain Andorson of the Artillc y. Notification.—Foreign Department, Cump Pcrozepore 23rd Ftb vary.—The Governor-General has the gratification of intimating to the President in Council, and notifying for public informat on, tli it he has tliia day received a despatch from Major M ckeson, C. 8., Agent to the Governor-General with the Commander-in-Chief, conveying the intelligence that the forces under his Excdlency the Commander in Chief crn the 21st instant attacked and routed the Siku army in the neighbourhood of Goojerat. The enemy was beaten at every point, and retreated in disorder leaving in the hands of the British troops, by whom he was pursued, a great portion of his artillery, h.s ammunition, and the whole of his standing camp. The official despatches of his Excellency the Com tnander in Cluef will be published at soon as they are received. The Governor-General directs th »ta salute of 21 guns shall be fired at every principal station of the army, on the receipt of this no ificaMon.
