The Grand Duke of Tuscany hai arrived at Gae'.a, on board her Majesty's steamer Bulldog, commanded by Captain Key, who had the honour of conveying the Duke and Duchess, a fter hating protected them for several dayi preyionsly at S.n Stephano, they having sought a refuge on board his vessel. Captain Key gave up his own cabin to the illustriou* exiles, "ho have every reason to remember with gratitude the kindness and attention shown to them by that officer while guests on board his ve>.sel. The King and Qieen of Naples hastened to welcome their Royal relative 1 ;. Rumours were current of a final settlement of the Sicilian question, but as yet no official notification has appeared on the subject. Letters received from Rome, of the 24th ultimo, state that a large Neapolitan army 19 approaching the Roman frontier, with the apparent intention of entering into Ihe States of the Church. The strength of this army is variously estimated at from 12,01)0 to 20.000 men, and it has four batteries of cannon' attached to it. General Zucchi (the Pope's gener.il) haa been placed at the head of an advanced guard of fire hundred men. At Rome the people were in a state of the greatest excitcmen-. The Neapolitan srmy commenced its march on the 20th. The majority is Moderate in its opinions, and would be pleased to see the Pope restored ; but the Democratic minority is by far the most active, and continues to cairy everything before it. M. Campello, the Minister of War, bad left Rome, accompanied by sever*! officers of the army, for the purpose of organizing the means of resisting the Austrian invasion, A letier from Mantua lays — «' We have passed the last daysof the rarnival very tadly ; several persons have been arrested, and several more have luffered military execution " The Genoa Gazette, of the 28th ult., publishes tke following note :— " Mr. Editor,—The Consul of het Britannic Majesty begs of you to contiadict positively the proclamation publ shed by the Prefect of Pua and the Governor of Leghorn, and repeated by the Genoa Gazette, of the 21st. Sir George Hamilton has never left Florence ; he has not been, nor hai he sent, to the frontier to oppose the entrance of the Piedmontese troops. Sir G. Hum lton has not promised to recognise the Provisional Government or a Republic. Sir G. Hamilton, in the interest of his fellow-countrymen, ii in friendly but not official 1 elation with the Provisional Government, and he will continue to bs so as long as the Provisional Government maintain erder and tranquillity in the country Y.
