SYDNEY MARKETS.-Friday, May 25.
Wheat.— The usual amount of business has been done tbis week, the supply from the interior continuing to be good, and the quai.ty very fair. The general l-rice has been for co'omal from 4s. to 4s s£d. ; a small lot at the Campbe.l-strert maikft went as high as 4s. 6d. The price of Van Diemen's wheat is 4s. 6d. Other Grain, — Maize m,\y be quoted at 3s. 9d. to 4s. 6d., according to the sum pie, and the extent of the transaction. A small lot of oats was disposed of at the rnaiket at 3*. In barley there is no alteiation. Flour.— A rise of £1 per ton took place on Monday, and a further, of at least £\ r se is expected to occur to-day. The quotations at the mills yesterday were j£ll 10s. for fine, jEIQ 10«. for seconds, and £9 lOs. for ra ion, per ton of 200T lbs. Bran is in demand at Is. 2d. per bushel. Bre\d is selling at 3d. the 21b. loaf. Biscuit .-.No. 1, (cabin), 18s., and the No. 2, (ship), 14s. 6d. per cwt. Potatoes.— Colonial are worth £i. to £4. 10s. per ton. Dairy Produce.— The following piices have ruletj
dunni? the week :— Butter, Is. to Is. 4d. ; bacon, 4d. to 4|d., and cheese, 4d. to 4f d. The supply has consisted of about fcur tons butter, two tons bacon, and thice tons cheese. Eggs have suffered a decline, the present quotationi are 9d. to 10d. per dozen. Poultry,— The supply has been of an average desciijtion, and tie prices obtained ns follows .—Fowls, Is. to Is. 4d. ; ducks, 2k. to 2s. 6d.; geese, 43. to 55. ; and turkeys, ss. to 7s per couple. FRuix.—Fifteen loads of peaches, pears, nnd quincei entered (he market during the week. The peaches went at Is. 6. to 2s d». |er basket ; the pears, at Gd. to Is. per dozen ; and the quinces at 6d. to lOd. There are itill Fome Van Dit men's Land apples for sale at *255. ptr (asc Vegetables.— Maiket dues have been paid on 40 loads, md the prices have sonuwbat fallen. Cabbages we:e purchaied by the dealers at 2«. 6d. to 4s. per dozen, and carrots and turnips at Is. 9d. to 2*. per doz. bunches. Forage.— There has not been a brisk business in this market : 9J loads of hay went off at £5. to ;£5. 9s. per ton ; and about 25 loads of straw at from £2 to £2 1O». Green foJder sells at 9d. to 10. per dozen bundlei, and bedding at 2s. 6d. to 3s. 6d. per load. Live Stock.— Cattle in eood condi'ion for the bu'eher readily fetch Id. per lb., and sheep 6s. per head. There are very few, if any, really good ammals in the market, uoristheie likely to be un-il after win'er. Of indifferent ttock there is more than the butchen are w l!insf to purchase. Horses.— Mr. Stewart has disposed of thirty head during the week : tbe average p ire of the better desc iptioti being from ;£8 to £\2 125., and for rough unbroken animals about £Z each.
