MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS.

To the Editor of tht New Zealander. Sir,— l shall feel obliged by your informing me, if it be correct that there is no law in this colony to prevent any one from practicing Medicine, and adding' M.D., to their name*, without being in the (lightest degree entitled to tuch dUtinction. In all cirilized' countriei, a certain and indeed a rery long and severe course, of education it rendered necessary before any one can meddle with medical practice. Ido not see why people's health and lires are of less ralue in this , colony ; and if there is no law to that effect, it is high time there should be one. Else, what it there to prevent any one calling himself a doctor, who has no more right to the title than a druggist's errand boy. Your's, &c, &c., Sycamoke. April 16th, 1849.
