Andiew Aitkur, of I'auranga, Poverty B&y, proved the arrival of the prisoner at Poveityßay, somethno iv the begnnaog ot Febkiiary last, ia charge of the tdisci in question, that the prisouer represented the vessel lo be tlie Hope of Auckland* and that he bud been directed by the owaai to proccid ap Uic CWt iv tourdt
&f freight. The witneis chartered the teisel to conrey § : arero to Wellington. William Champion, master of ihe schooner Undine, r-Ane distinctly that the schooner called Hope, in the 'i pfUour, wa« the larae he had kuowti in Auckland as tii» r omfort, James Stuait,sf>Mn*n of the Undine, corroborated the testimony of thr last witnesi. The prisoner was committed to take his trial at the next criminal sitting* of the Supreme Court, to be holden at Wellington.
