AUCKLAND

ANNUAL CONTRACTS.

Commissariat Office, Auckland, 24th January, 1849. TENDERS will be received at this Office, until noon of Thursday, the Ist day of March, for furnishing the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and at such places, within the limits of the Town of Auckland, as may be directed by the Undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the twelve calendar months commencing Ist April, 1849, under the conditions heieafter specified, viz : — BREAD, at per ft). Rum, (duty being paid by contractor,) at per gallon Firewood, at per 100 lbs. Mould Candles, at per ft). Dip Candles, a.t per ft>. Common Oil, at per Imperial gallon Cotton Wick, at per ft). ! CONDITIONS. 1. All the artic les to be of the best quality of their several kin ds. 2. The Flour to • be the produce of clean sound Colonial Wh eat, from which 20 per cent in Bran has been c: ctracted. 3. The Bread to be made from Flour of the same quality as ( lescribed in the preceding paragraph, and to he baked 24 hours before being issued, in loa vves of 2ft>s. each. 4. The Rum to be West India, and 5 per cent under proof. 5. The Firewoo d to be exclusively of Tea Tree, or other hard wood, split, and cut into lengths of four fee>t . 6. The Mixed V r egetables to be supplied in reasonable proporti ons of Greens, Onions, &c. MODE OF DELIVERY. 7. The supplies 1 , required will not be taken into the charge of the Commissariat but are to be delivered by tl he Contractor direct to the person or persons c ntitled thereto, on the order of the Senior Cora imissariat Officer, or of any person to be depui ;ed by him for that purpose.

GENEIU lL CONDITIONS. 8. Each Tender must be accompanied by a statement, signed by two competent persons, and expressing the' ir readiness, in the event of the Tender being ; iccepted, to become sureties for its due perfor mance by entering into a Bond the penalty ■ of which will be equal to the estimated amount of three months supplies. 9. The Contrac tor for Firewood must have constantly on han< 1 at Auckland a stock sufficient for fourteer i days' consumption, from which alone the i; ssues are to be made. The Stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Comn rissariat, and all wood objected tp at such i aispection as not being of a proper description must be immediately removed. The wo od, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measun jment, and stacked for that purpose by the ( Contractor on delivery — 71 cubic feet being ■ considered as equivalent to 2240 lbs. 10. The article; i required for hospitals must be comprised in one Tender, and the same rule applies to the >se required for ships of war. The other articles may be tendered together or separately. 11. The Contra ,ctor to prepare his own account monthly, according to the prescribed form, and on proi clucing the same, with the requisite vouchers , in a complete state, at this office, he will rec< jive payment by means of a Bill upon the L< ards Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasur y at par, when the amount due exceeds £50 ; when under that amount, payment will be i made in cash. 12. It shall be in the power of either party to limit the durati on of the Contract by giving in writing a Noti cc of three calendar months to the opposite pa rty, and to end the Contract at the expiration < jf that period.
