The Walmer Castle arrived yeoterday, and has made a fair averape passage of one hundred and eight days, from Plymouth. She h»s on board 302 emigrant'! of whom 57 are married couples, 53 hingle men, 43 single wom?n, 49 boyo and 28 girls (roni one to fouiteea years of age, and 15 infants. No deaths occurred on the voyage, and all uppeared to be in excellent health. Capt lin Thorn statei th it he has experienced nothing but l'ght winds and fine we<ither, not having encounteied a pale during the whole voyage. He reports having spoken, on the 29th October, in lat. 18" south, lon<r. 27*30 wesf, the ship City of Poonah, hence, for London, the 21»t July, all well, having then left Rio de Janeiro but a few days.— Sydney Herald, Jan. 1. The brift D-iniel Watson, from Sydney and the South Sea Islands, arrived at Hongkong about the latter end of August, and in the severe typhoon which occurred on the last day of that month, she drove from her .anchors and lost both topmasts and bowsprit. The Daniel Watson Wat the only vessel connected with tikis colony that received any damage, so far as could he ascertained up to the 28th September. Launch of tub Indeiatig^ble. — On Thursday afternoon (July 27), at half-past two o'clock, the 50gun fr gate lnde atigable whs launched from her Majetty's dockyard, Dovonport. She was named by Mils Louis, daughter of Rear-Admiral bir John Louis, Bart., superintendent of this dockyard. The wind was very high aud the weather frequently very threatening; nevertheless there was a vast concourse of persons assembled. This noble frigate has been constructed after a design, and under the superintendence of, the present roaster shipwright, Win. Edje, Esq. Her dimension! are :— Length from the figure head to stern, 215 feet ; length on the upper dfck, 189 feet 6 inches; breadth, extreme, 51 <eet 6' inches; depth in bold, If) feet 6 incite*. Burthens in torn*, No. 2043. Armament : — Quarter deck and forecastle guns, 22 32-pounders; weight, 45 cwt. ; length, 3 feet 5 inches. Main-deck guns, 8-inch diameter, shot and shelli, 28 56-pounders; weight, 65 o.wt. ; length, 9 feet. Total armament, 50. The weight of the shot that could be discharged in one broadside from this ship would be 2272 lbs., equal to 1 ton 0 cwt 1 qr. 4 lbs. When a frigate of thetc ditnenbions was first proposed to the Admiralty, in 1820, it was deemed too laige. However, a finer specimen of naval architecture than ihe Indefatigable displays, it woulJ be difficult perhapi to produce. She was commenced in August of 1846. Her armament makes her supriior to every ship or' ber class, she possesses proportions of moit beautiful exactitude.
