NEWS FROM INDIA.
We have news from India to the cml of September. The Mooltan affair was nearly at a close. A large force had assembled under General Whibh, and previ- j ousto its arrival the irregulars, under the command of Captain Edwardei, hud twice encountered the Dewan Moolraj. defeated him, and duven him into the strongly fortified city of Mooltan. Here he offered to surrender, if his life whs spared, hut this was positively refuted in consequence of the murder of Messrs. Agnew and Kennedy. On the 12th September, the outwoiks of MooUan were n I tucked, and after some hard fighting were taken. Tin; losses of the enemy was most severe. Iho particulars of the cMialiies on our side do not appear in the papers bt'lore us, but they must have been heavy, as Colonel Paltoun, of 11. M. 32nd icgiment, Mnjor Montizambert, ot H.lVl, 10th, and three otlier officers, were Kil'ed. Having planted the seige tram within six bundled yaids of the wall, it was expected there would be a practicable breiich on the 13th, when the city would be taken by aMnult, and the war be over; hut u» fortunately our files are not late enough by a day or two to give us 1 the result.
A ship and a schooner were in sight of Port at sunset.
