Tlir- Maid oi Eiin's mail consisted of only a few Icttcis, having sailed from Sydney early on the morning after llio Dido's dcpailure. The barque, Harriet Nathan, Captain Gill, (formerly of Mr. J3lackctt's yacht Albatross) nnived yesterday afternoon, from Port Albeit, after a pro* traded pnssagc of three weeks, dining which she lost ttn out of sixty head of catilc, and 160 sheep out of 230. She brings neither mail, news, nor passengers, and was bound for Nelson, but in consequence of very strong south-easterly gales was driven to the eastward, of the North Cape, and compelled to bear up for this port. What reamins of her cargo will be sold here. The Elora, we hear, will proceed immediately to the Bay of Islands, to bring Tip the oil anil stores saved by the boats of 11. M.5. Calliope, from the wreck ol the American whaler Hope. The claim ior qalvnuu, in Ibis case, will, we understand, be ananged without rccojirse to law.
The Enterprise, bearing th? pennant of Captain Sir James Clarke Hots, is making ready wit!\ every despatch to proceed to the arctic regions in search of Sir John Franklin's expedition, and a lieutenant and purser of the Enterprise are stationed on board the Hebe, at Woolwich, to receive petty offieeis and seamen for Sir J. Clarke Ross's expedition. The other vcshcl which will accompany the Entciprise is named the Investigator and will be under the command of Capt. Bird. She was built at Groenock, and is expected in the river about the Jsth instant, to be fitted for sea. Captain Sir J. Clarke Ross and Captain E. J. Hiul both visited Woolwich Dockyard ycslcidny.
