We are in receipt of Newfoundland papers to the 29th of November inclusive. Francis Brady, Esq., the new chief justice of Newfoundland, had arrived.it St. John's. A fire, which for ft short time occasioned considerable
alnim occuired on the 17th at St. John's. The fiio wns by gie.it exertion confined to tlio building in which it oiiginated. Fire at St. Thomas.— This island was -visited by n foaiful fire on the 2(>th ult, which destroyed property lo the estimated amount of £12,000 sterling, and would have hid the entire town in ashes, but for a sudden change of the wind, which providentially occurred when the iames were at their highest, and arrested thoir progress. Drinking water was selling at Is. per gallon.
