By the Calcutta Englishman of 27th October, we nic informed of the lobh of the H.C. steamer Indus. She went on the rocks about thirty miles to the northwai d and westw :u dof Dm Head. The accident occurred about four o'clock in the morning of the 7th October. She was on a reef of rocks, in a heavy suif, considerably injured — a portion of the rock having gone through her bottom. No livea were lost, and ihe patsengcis having proceeded iv the boats to Kurrachec. The crew were hind at work, endeavouring to Buvft her mwhinery. There were troops on board. —Jl>. The latter is "stationary," but the one on Kent's Group will be a " icvolving** light, consisting of seven lamps, viz.:— two in the top tier, thiee in the centre, and two in the lower tier. The tower is built of granite, found on one of the islands, and stands upon an eminence about 900 Icet above the level of the sea— the atitude of the light-house being 70 feet, so that it will be observable to mariners ut a grvat distance. It is expected that thejlamps will be lighted about the 23rd of the present month of Junuaiy. — llnbart Town Courier.
