SOUTHERN CROSS.
The writer of the lending article of '* the New Zealander" of the sth instant, cheerfully acknowledges, that he was misinfoimed as to the names of the holders of the grant referred to in the second paragraph of that article, and has to expres3 his regret at any erroneous conclusions that may have been founded upon the mis-statement. Iv justice to himself, however, he is bound to deny that he has held any place or office under the present Government, or that he received any professional employment from it, subsequently to, or in consequence of any editorial contributions to " the New Zealander*"
Programme. — On Thursday, Feb. 1 7th, at 4 o'clock, on the space of ground opposite the Council Chamber, the Band of the 58ih Regiment, will perform the following pieces of music :—: — Overture— Op., " Lea Diamens " Auber Cuv. & Coro. — Op.
