ANNUAL CONTRACTS. FOR AUCKLAND. Commissariat Office, Auckland, Jan. 13, 1848. TENDERS will be received at this Office, by the UjkK-i singed, until noon of Wednesday the first day of March next, for furnishing the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, and at such times and places within the limits of the town of Auckland, as may be directed by the Senior Commissariat Officer during the twelve calendar months, commencing Ist April next, under the conditions hereafter specified, viz, :— Bread, at per lb. Flour, at per lb. Biscuit, at per lb. Rum, West India, 5 per cent, under proof, (Duty to be paid by the Contractor,) at per gallon Fnewood, at per 109 Us. Mould and Dip Candles, at per lb: Straw, at per ton of 2240 lbs.
FOR HOSPITALS. CONDITIONS, QUALITIES OF THE SUPPLIES— Ist.—All the articles to be of the best quality of their several kinds. 2nd.—The Flour to be the produce of clean sound Colonial Wheat, from which 20 per Cent, in BVan has been extracted. 3rd.—The Bread to be made fiom Flour of the same quality as described in the preceding paragraph, and to be baked 24 hours before being issued, in Joaves of 2 lbs. each. 4th.—The mixed Vegetable to be supplied in reasonable propoitions of Greens, Onions, &c. sth.—The Firewood to be Tea Tree or other Hard wood, split, and cut into 4 feet lengths. Parties tendering are requested to that strict adherence to these conditions will be invariably enforced.
WODE OF DELIVERY, 6th.—The required supplies will not be taken into the charge of the Commissariat, but must be delivered by the Contractor direct to the persons entitled thereto, on the order of the Senior Commissariat Officer, or of any person to be deputed by him for that purpose.
GENERAL CONDITIONS. 7th. — Each Tender sent. in, in consequence of this Advertisement, must be accompanied by a statement signed by two competent Persons, and expressing their readiness, in the event of such Tender being accepted, to become security for its due performance. The penalty of the Bond to be given will be equal to the estimated amount of three months' supplies. And it is to be understood that the sureties will be held strictly responsible for the fulfilment of the Contractor's engagements, any failure in which will be immediately followed by the enforcement of the penalty of Bond. Bth. — The articles required for Hospitals must be comprised in one Tender, — and the same Regulation will apply to those required for Ships of War. The other articles may be tendered together or separately. 9lh;— Tne Contractor to prepare his own account according to the prescribed form ; and on the production thereof at tnis Oifice, with the requisite Vouchers in a complete state, shall receive payment Monthly, by a Bill upon the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, at Par, when the amount is Fifty Pounds or upwards: when under that Amount, Payment will be made in Cash. 10th.— In the event of any Article offered being objected to as not agreeing with these Conditions, it will be submitted to a Board of Officers, to be appointed by the Officer Commanding the Troops, and if rejected by the 1 Board, it will be replaced by the Commissariat I Officer and charged against the Contractor, in the event of his neglecting to do so when required. 11th. — It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving in writing a notice of three Calender Months to the opposite party, and to end the Contract at
