SECOND DAY. THE METROPOLITAN PLATE. Twice round the Course — three yeais old Bst. 7lbs. four, 9st. 2lbs. five, 9st. lOlbs. six and aged, lOst. 7lbs. Entrance one sovereign. If more than four horses start, the owner of the second horse to receive back his stake. A winner at this meeting to carry 3lbs. extra. NATIVE RACE. Twice round the course, for horses bona fide the property of, and to be ridden by, Aborigines, catch-weights. PONEY RACE. Heats once round the Course, for horses fourteen hands and under, catch-weights. GARRISON PLATE. Heats once round the course— open to all horses ridden by Gentlemen. Horses and riders to be. named on the day of entry, by Officers of the Gariison. Three years old lOst. 91bs. four, list, five, list. 61bs. six. and aged, list. lOlbs. EnS trance two sovereigns. If more than four horses start, the owner of the second horse to receive back his stake. BEATEN PLATE. Handicap, to be settled by the Stewards, or whom they may depute. Tenders are requested to be sent in to the Clerk of the Course, at the Exchange Hotel, on. or before Wednesday next, by all persons willing to rent the Race Course, on the followiug terms : Applications for permission to erect Booths to be submitted to the Stewards for approval. A Grand Stand to be erected at a place to be pointed out by the Stewards, the fee to be charged for admission not to exceed 2s. sd. each. All Booths approved of by the Stewards to be allowed upon the course at a charge of not more than Three Guineas. All Foot passengers to be admitted to the. course free of charge. Carriages of every description to be charged 2s a 6d., Horses, Is. The Stewards do not bind themselves to accept the highest Tender. The amount of the prize to be given for each Race will be declared in a subsequent advertisment. RULES. No horse to be entered for any stake, except the Native Race, which is not bona fide the property of a subscriber to the race fund of one guinea. Entrances to be made with the Clerk of the Course, at the Exchange Hotel, on or before Monday, the 24th instant. The Colors of the Riders to be declared at the time of Entrance, and not altered under a fine of 10s. 6d,,—to be added to the race fund. All stakes, subscriptions, and fines to be made good before starting, or the horse whose owner or name shall make default, will not be entitled to win. All Matches to be declared to the Clerk of the Course on the Entrance Day, that they may be inserted in the Lists, unless made after that period, when they will come off on the last day. The owner of each horse entered for a match to pay 10s. 6d. to the Race Fund. All disputes to be referred to. the Stewards whose decisions will be final. Auckland, Ist Jan. 1848.
