% His Excellency GEORGE GREY, Esquire, Governor -in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster, and Vice Admiral of the same, Qc. Bsc. WHEREAS, her Majesty has been graciously pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Gveat Biitain and Ireland, bearing date the tenth day of December, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand eight Hundred and forty-six, to constitute and appoint me, GeobgiJ Grey, Esquire, to be Governor-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Provinces ot New Ulster and New Munster, with such powers and authorities, and according to such directions as are expressed in Her Majesty's Letters. Patent under the Great Seal of the United , Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, bearing date at Westminster, the twenty-third ] day of December, in the Year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty-six : And Her Majesty did require and command all Officers and Ministers, and all other Her Subjects in the said Colony and all other whom it may concern to take due notice of Her Majesty's said warrant, and to give their ready obedience accordingly. Now therefote,!, George Grey, do hereby proclaim and declare that I have this day taken the prescribed Oaths, and assumed the administration of the Government accordingly ; and [hereby call upon the Inhabitants of the Colony, to be aiding and assisting me therein. 1 Given under my hand, and under the public seal of the aforesaid Islands at Government House, Auckland, in the Province of (L. S.) New Ulster, in the Islands aforesaid, this first day of Janu1 ary, in the Year of cur Lord, One Thousand eight Hundred and forty-eight. GEORGE GREY, Governor- in-Chief.
