His Honor the Chief Justice took bis seat at 10 o'clock, and proceeded to past tentence on the prisoners convicted, as follows : You, Thomas Crutchley, have been found guilty of stealing two silver watches in the possession of George Partington. I see with extreme regret a soldier convicted of such an offence. The sentence of this Court is that you be transported beyond the seas to such place as his Excellency the Governor shall appoint, for the term of seven years. You, Andrew Branagan, have been found guilty of burglary, committed on the night of the 20th November last, in the house of Henry Daniel Ley : you also are a soldier. By your crime that honorable profession is disgraced. Ihe sentence of this Court is, that you Andrew Brnnogan. be transported beyond the seas, to such phce as his Excellency the Governor shall appoint ; for the term of ten years. Yrdl Joseph Williams, have been indicted on a chtrgtTof having stolen in the dwelling house of John Charles Blackett, property of the said John Charles Blackett, to the value of five pounds and upwards, and you have been found guilty. The sentence of this Court is, that you Joseph Williams be transported beyond the se»s, to such place as his Excellency the Governor shall appoint, for the term of ten years* Joseph Williams, you have also been found guilty of having stolen certain articles of wearing apparel, the property of George Siison Cooper. This your offence is singularly aggravated by the fact which has appeared in evidence, that you committed this offence in the short period of time during which you were unlawfully at large, after escaping from the prison to which you had been committed to await your trial for the offence for which you have now received sentence, Upon this second conviction the sentence of this Court is, that you Joseph Williams be transported beyond the seas, to such place as his Excellency the Governor shall appoint, for the term of seven years, to be computed from the expiration of the term of ten years, to which you have been already sentenced, J
