MR. MERRETT, Portrait and Landscape Painter to His Excellency the Governor, begs to intimate to those parties with whom he has engaged to execute Portraits, that he is willing to complete them j having now a studio in Auckland, with a good light ; but he has a decided objection to attend sitters at their own houses, simply on account of the variety of light, caused by verandahs and windows fronting the course of the sun, &c. His rooms are in Chancery Street, in Mr. Cooiahan's new house, at the back of the Exchange Hotel. Attendance from nine to five. Groups of natives, single portraits of natives, landscapes of the most interesting parts of the interior, carvings, canoes, &c, will be executed in such a manner, as to lose nothing of the characteristics of the people and country he pourtrays.
