THE WINTER.

We give below a tabular view of the Temperature of the Air, &c, during the three winter months, from ob■ervations made at the office of the Surveyor General, and by a gentleman resident in the town.

The month of July has been unusnally wet and boisterous, there were six heavy gales of wind, and much otherwise tempestuous weather, in its course. The winds, however, followed, during the rest of ihe winter, their usual ojcle from E.to S., except in the mouth of August, when there was an unusual prevalence of easterly and south-easterly winds. Notwithstanding, such is the genial nature of our climate, that vegetation has-been scarce checked ; almond trees flowered in the latter end of July, and set their fruit in August, and the fruit of the loquat, or Japan medlar, is ripening in a garden in the town. Strawberries are also ripe, and vines shot in August, and showed their flower buds in warm situations. The natives predict a dry sumnrver, and as their observations are generally correct, farmers and gardentrs should take warning, and get their crops in.
