On tlio 28th Bebruary, at Canterbury, LieutenantColonel Sir George Gipps, of the Royal Enginucrs. The deceased officer had very recently returned from New South Wales, of which colony and its dependencies he had been Governor in-Chief during the last nine years. The anxious duties of the above important office laid the foundation, it is believed, of a disease of the h'cart, which has thus terminated his life, in the fifty-seventh year of his age.— Times.
