The Thomas King sailed from tlie Downs for Sydney on the 24th December, and was spoken off trcilly on the 28ih. The Mayflower, fiom liobart Town on the ,9th September, arrived in the Downs the29iti January. Same tlay sailed the Lady Howden, from Graveseud tor Hobart lown. Tlie barque Primrose, Hoseason, was loading at Liverpool, for Sydney the lht February, Awful Carnally at Sea. — A great gloom has been cast on tin* unsicantile community of Liverpool, by the intelligence leceived by i\ig Lady talAland,U&\)U Smith, from New Orleans, which vessel, on the istli u'tiino, fell in with the New York packet ship, the Columbia, in distress, having on the 13th, lost overboard the Captain (Kathbone), first and second mates, live seaman, and a boy, white scudding in u heavy gale. '1 be Lady Falkland put her mate on board to navigate the Columbia. Captain Kathbone was well known and highly respected hi Liveipool, and his unhappy fate is deeply lamented. He foimerly commanded the packet ship Oxford. The Daily News states, that alter the captain's death, theciew became insubordinate. Theie weie but six cabin passengers on boaid; and the crew it is alleged, broke mto the cabin, pilferred it, and also overhauled the luggage of the passengers, throwing what appeared us-eKfes into the sea. This is only one of many repot ts which have been cunent rejecting the conduct ot the crew; but we may state, that although the captain's boxes were broken, it is said, by the sea, and the money gone, there are as yet no sufficient grounds for establishing an act of lelony against the ciew. Another rumour was, that the crew, or rather a portion of them, had mutinied, and thrown the captain, mates, and men into the sea. This is utterly groundless. So also is another part of the rumour, that tlie hands have been placed under arrest. Indeed we do not recollect of any instance in which so many rumours, without as yet at all events, any substantial foundation afloat. The G»/it»»Wa is now m dock, and we believe a captain in the service ot the company to which she belongs is engaged on board in making a private investigation into all the circumstances.- <- Liverpool Albion, t'eb. 1.
