LOSS OF THE BARQUE " LOUISA CAMPBELL." The cutter "Fisherman," Watson, master, which arrived at Manukau on "Wednesday last, from Nelson and Taiannki, brings intelligence of the total wreck of the barque " Louisa Campbell. She sailed from this port for the Southern settlements on the 26th April last, and arrived at Taranaki on the (Jth May, and lay there two days., discharging part of her original cargo from London: after which, on the 9th, she sailed for Nelson, and in crossing the Straits, made Cape Farewell on the evening of the 11th, which Captain Darby mistook for Separation Point. However » reef was taken iv the topsails, and she was hauled upon -wind lor the night. Shortly after it became dark, she struck upon the Sandy Peninsula, and half-an-hour atterwards the water was level with the cabin tables. Her position was such, that as the tide receded, the crew and passengers had very little difficulty in getting on ihore i but with the next tide it came on to blew a gale, and the ill-fated vessel was shattered into atoms, and her cargo widely strewed along the shore. Information of the unfortunate circumstance soon reached Nelson, and the schooner " Catherine," and cutter " Supply," were despatched to bring away any portion of the cargo that might be saved. These vessels had not returned when the " Fisherman" sailed. Capt. Darby, we are informed, stated that Cape Farewell lies, at least, thirty miles from its position as laid down on the chart.
