COOK'S STRAITS. "New Zealander" Office,
4p.M, Saturday, May 15, 1847. The Inflexible arrived this morning, and brought Wellington papers up to Saturday lust, Bth inst. They contain more detailed and full particulars of the tragic occurrences at Wanganui, thau we were able to publish this morning. Four of the prisoners have been condemned to death by a Court Martial, and the sentence has been promptly carried into execution. The fifth, in consideration of his youth, has been sentenced to transportation for life. The murderers were committed on the same day that Ringihaeata robbed Brown's station at Kupiti, but it is not believed that the mur j derers acted at his instigation. At Nelson, a melancholy and fatal accident occuired on Thursday, 25th April. A butcher in the town was preparing to shoot a bullock,, and, in drawing near the animal with a loaded musket, by some accident the piece went off, and the contents were lodged in the bowels of a young man named Sidebotham, who happened to be passing at the time. The poor fellow liugered in great pain until next morning, when he died.
