KIAPARA.
On Monday, the Ist insfc, the Natives under Christian) instruction, in connexion with the "Wesleyan Mission on this river, assembled on the Mission Station of Tangiteroria, for the purposes of attending^ School Exam* ination and a public Missionary Meeting,' after the religious services of the preceding Sabbath. The Missionary Meeting took place in the afternoon, in which the Rev. J. Buller, resident Missionary, presided. Three resolutions, of which a literal translation is subjoined, were moved and seconded, with suitable addresses, by intelligent Native Teachers, and carried unanimously. The collection amounted to £6 12s. lOd. Ist resolution.—" It is right that we should rejoice because of the words now read to us, (an abstraot of the report), by which we learn that the World is being enlightened by the labors of the Missionaries of the "Wesleyan Church. It- is because God poured His love into the hearts, of, His people, that they loved those who were sitting in darkness, so as to send to them the 1 Gospel that the command' of Christ might be obeyed—' Go, preach the Gospel to every creature.' " 2nd resolution.—" It is by the Gospel that we receive all good things ' of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.' By the Gospel we have been saved from our former foolish and wicked customs. By the Gospel our land has become a residence for the white man, so that we receive of his wealth and learn his superior ways. And it is by the Gospel that the road to everlasting life is made known to us." 3rd resolution.—" Inasmuch as we have ♦ freely rerceived,' so ought we to ' freely give.' As the believing people of England manifested their love to* us, by sending to us the Word of God, so in like' manner as we have learnt the meaning of that word, and have received its "blessings, ought we to add something to the collection of all the other Churches, which are for to send the word of life to all those who are yet sitting ignorantly in darkness."
