By the last arrival we have Launceston journals to the Sth, and Hobart Town to the 2nd in blanl inclusive. We have only room for the followftig extracts. (From the Launceston Advertiser Oct. 8 ) Major-General William F.P.Napier. Advice has been received from England of the appointment by Her Majesty, of Major-General |F. P. Napier to the command of the Forces in the Australian Colonies. The arrival of this distinguished officer may be daily expected It is rumoured thaCHobaii Town will be Head Quarters, and that Geneial Napier will be also Governor oUkis Colony. As a few da>s will in all probability, decide the matter, it is not worth while to hazard an opinion on it. — Cornwall Chronicle, Oct. 3. Ho a art Town Market, Oct. 8. — Grain market very heavy ; scarcely anything doing. Prices quoted 7s. to 7s, 3d. may be considered nominal. The latest reports from Sydney, and the account of rain which has fallen in the neigh- 1 bounng districts, seem to have created a depression in onr market value.
