I am, Sir, Your obedient servant, J. FOREST. Auckland, Sept. 24, 1846. [We had determined upon refusing insertion to any additional controversial remarks from either of the gentlemeu who have written on the question of the toleration of the Romish Church, with respect to.the circulation of the Scriptures among the laity.
Our owu opinion on ibis subject is founded upon history, and cannot be altered. But lest it should be said that we wish to prevent Mr. Forest from at tempting to explain his position, we reluctantly comply with his written request, and will give insertion to his letter, if not too long, next week. — Ed.
